At the end of July, our junior high school students embarked on a three-day educational adventure in Ashikaga City in Tochigi Prefecture, combining hands-on learning with fun activities. The trip was an excellent opportunity for our students to engage with advanced scientific concepts, experience the natural beauty of the region, and build lasting relationships with their peers and local Japanese students.

Day 1: Immersive University Experience

The trip kicked off with a visit to Ashikaga University, where our students were welcomed into two specialized laboratories. Under the guidance of Professor Miyazawa, they observed and participated in a Compressive strength test comparing normal strength concrete with ultra-high strength concrete. This hands-on experiment allowed students to witness the practical application of concepts they've learned in their studies.

The students then explored the Renewable Energy Lab, where Professor Day provided a comprehensive introduction to solar panel technology and mechanical electrical engineering. This interactive session deepened their understanding of renewable energy and its future potential.

To round off their university experience, they attended an introduction to Ashikaga University led by Mrs. Miyachi from the International Student Affairs section, offering insight into higher education opportunities.

In the evening, the students participated in a friendly soccer match with two local junior high schools in Ashikaga, fostering a spirit of camaraderie and cultural exchange.

Day 2: Engineering Marvels and Recreational Fun

On the second day, the students visited the Takatsudo Dam, where they explored the gates used for power generation. The visit provided a real-world glimpse into how engineering and natural resources are harnessed to generate energy.

Following the educational tour, the students headed to the Sano swimming pool, where they enjoyed water games, taking advantage of the refreshing escape in the summer heat.

Day 3: A Warm Conclusion

The final day of the trip was spent at the home of Aghiad sensei, where students enjoyed a family-style lunch and relaxed before their return to Tokyo. The visit offered a chance to experience Japanese hospitality and strengthen the bonds formed over the previous days.

Throughout the trip, our students also led prayers, including the night prayers, reinforcing their leadership and spiritual development. The trip was not only an opportunity for academic growth but also a valuable experience in building relationships and understanding different cultures. The connections made, particularly through the soccer match, have laid the groundwork for future exchanges and friendships.

This three-day journey to Ashikaga City in Tochigi Prefecture will be remembered by our students as a time of learning, fun, and personal growth.
